Kady McDermott was born on September 4, 1995, which makes her 31 years old as of October 2026. The English television personality first became known to British audiences during the summer of 2016, when she entered the Love Island villa as a contestant on the show’s second series . Her age has since become a frequent search query, particularly after her surprise return to the same programme in 2023 .
The most authoritative confirmation of her birth details comes from official records rather than entertainment media. UK Companies House lists Kady Harriet McDermott with a date of birth of September 1995, matching the more specific date of September 4, 1995 reported across biographical sources . This means her birthday falls early in the autumn, and her age changes each September rather than at the start of the calendar year.
When McDermott first appeared on Love Island in 2016, she was 20 years old . At that time she was working as a make-up artist and entered the villa as a “bombshell” contestant on the third day of the series . She eventually coupled up with Scott Thomas, and the pair reached the final, finishing in third place . Her age during that first stint is often cited in contrast to her later appearance, because it highlights how much time passed between her two runs on the programme.Kady McDermott Quick Bio
Notes on sourcing: Basic biographical details (name, birth date, birthplace, profession) are drawn from Wikipedia and Wikiwand, which cite official records and contemporaneous reporting. Relationship status is based on 2025 reporting from The Mirror and should be considered subject to change.
By the time McDermott returned to Love Island in 2023 for the tenth series, she was 27 years old . Her return came seven years after her original appearance, and she became only the second contestant in the show’s history to participate in a second series, following Adam Collard . She was dumped from the island on Day 44 alongside Ouzy See at the VIP Beach Party . The age gap between her first and second appearances has sometimes caused confusion in search results, with older articles still listing her as 27 long after her birthday had passed.
A minor discrepancy appears in some coverage from 2025. A Mirror interview published in August of that year described McDermott as “now 29 and about to turn 30 in September” . That framing is consistent with a September 1995 birth date, because she would have turned 30 in September 2025. By October 2026, therefore, she has passed her 31st birthday. Sources that still describe her as 30 are simply out of date rather than contradictory.
Beyond Love Island, McDermott’s career has included a stint on ITVBe’s The Only Way Is Essex in 2018, when she joined the cast for the show’s twenty-third series while dating cast member Myles Barnett . She has also worked as a social media influencer, and in 2017 a planned appearance to switch on Christmas lights in Welwyn Garden City was cancelled after a local petition objected to her participation . That episode received national coverage and illustrated how quickly Love Island contestants became public figures in the mid-2010s.
McDermott has spoken about how her perspective has changed with age. In the 2025 Mirror interview, she reflected on her earlier television behaviour and said, “I’m 30 this year, I can’t be dealing with drama like I did at 20” . The comment is a rare direct quote in which she ties her personal growth to the passage of time, and it aligns with the public perception that her 2023 return was calmer than her 2016 debut.
For readers comparing her timeline, the key dates are straightforward. 2016: age 20, third place with Scott Thomas. 2023: age 27, dumped on Day 44. 2026: age 31. The consistency of her birth date across official records and reputable biographies makes her age one of the more reliably documented facts about her public profile.

She was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, and grew up in the surrounding area before entering the entertainment industry .
